Choose what appears in Spotlight

4 min

Use system search with explicit control over which MyPraise App content can appear outside the app.

Written guide · no new video walkthrough

Step by step

  1. Open search settings

Open Profile → Settings → Search & Native Actions.

  2. Separate features from personal content

App features in Spotlight is on by default and indexes generic feature names. Bible references in Spotlight is a separate, off-by-default switch. Neither requires selecting personal memories.

  3. Choose personal access deliberately

Selected memories in Spotlight is off by default. Read the explanation before enabling it: eligible titles, dates and memory types can appear outside MyPraise App on this device. It is unavailable while App Lock is enabled. Private memories, attachments and linked records are excluded.

  4. Select memories or preview filters

For individual selection, turn on only the memories you want. Edit Filters and Preview offers automatic matching; review matches and choose Apply Filters. Type/tag and some date filters depend on your plan. Exclude from Spotlight removes a particular match.

  5. Keep body text a separate choice

Include memory text in Spotlight is a separate switch. It can expose full saved text to search and excerpts in system previews, including names written in the body. Leave it off when you want only eligible metadata indexed.

  6. Search and revoke access

Wait for the indexing status, then use iOS Spotlight to search a selected title or enabled Bible reference. Apple controls ranking. Turn Selected memories in Spotlight off to remove the personal index; turn body text off to remove text while keeping eligible titles. Results can take time to refresh; use Retry Search Update or the relevant Rebuild control if needed.
